In Monroe, the Downtown RiverMarket offers a variety of family activities and features handmade crafts as well as local artwork and music, making it a frequent destination for social events.
Recurring events range from concerts at Landry Vineyards to the Downtown Gallery Crawl, which organizes tours of museums and galleries in Monroe and West Monroe. Residents can also catch numerous sporting events inlcuding the University of Louisiana at Monroe Warhawks depending on the season and sport.
Other fun festivals occur throughout the year in Monroe and all across Northeast Louisiana, including the Peach Festival in Ruston, the Watermelon Festival in Farmerville and the Art & Folk Festival in Columbia. One of the more prominent area festivals includes the Bayou DeSiard Dragon Boat Festival, which blends fun boat racing with community service by raising money for an area nonprofit through festival activities.
