Numerous Arts and Crafts During Downtown RiverMarket Days

View All Events

The RiverMarket, a French-style market area located in historic downtown Monroe on the banks of the Ouachita River, is an area designated as a Louisiana Cultural District by the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation & Tourism. The area is filled with restaurants, shops and vendors selling original works of art, all of which helps promote the talent of local artists and encourages a vibrant cultural scene across the area.

On specific Saturdays of the year, visitors to the RiverMarket area are able to interact with and purchase local goods or artwork from invited artists, artisans and a wide variety of vendors. During spring and fall, when the RiverMarket Days are in session, the riverfront area becomes a hub for activity in downtown Monroe.

Shoppers can browse and purchase handcrafted items such as:

  • Baby clothes
  • Ceramics
  • Handmade jewelry
  • Paintings
  • Wood carvings

Live music, cooking demonstrations, “how to” workshops and children’s activities are also available for visitors to enjoy, while special events held in conjunction with RiverMarket Days include fireworks shows, laser shows, celebrity guests, marathon races and more.
