Music, Cuisine and Crafts Bring 15,000 to Franklin Parish Catfish Festival

The Franklin Parish Catfish Festival is Louisiana’s largest one-day festival, drawing more than 15,000 attendees to downtown Winnsboro for family-friendly events. The festival, held each April, began in 1985 to celebrate Franklin Parish’s signature culinary item – catfish. During the festival, the town’s streets are lined with hundreds of vendor booths, music stages and youth play areas.

The Catfish Festival features:

  • Arts and crafts from regional artists
  • Fresh local catfish
  • Magicians, performers and circus acts on downtown streets
  • Multiple stages with a variety of musical acts throughout the day
  • Petting zoo and horseback rides
