Blend of the Bayou

Blend of the Bayou Fuses Food and Fundraising

View All Events

Each spring, the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council (NLAC) hosts Blend of the Bayou, an outdoor culinary celebration that combines Southern cuisine and live music with a philanthropic focus toward supporting local education initiatives. One of the premier fundraising events in the Northeast Region, the “Blend” is centered on a wide array of food and beverages prepared and served by area businessmen.

Known as the Men Who Cook and the Men Who Mix, these gentlemen generously volunteer their time and talents for the cause. The Men Who Cook either prepare their specialties or underwrite a local chef to supply a dish. The results of their labors are served from tasting tables while guests mingle and converse. The Men Who Mix feature local professionals and celebrity bartenders serving drinks to guests in a fun, informal setting.

In addition to live music, a number of local artists donate or sell their works during the event’s silent auction. Proceeds from Blend of the Bayou go to area schools and NLAC arts projects, providing local education programs with engaging artistic activities for students that include music and theater.
